| The Kelly Tent
The
Kelly Tent (The Oak) was built in 1999 by Mary Lee Almand Kelly
for her grandchildren,Casey Bolles, Maleah Kelly, Kayla Kelly, Madison
Kelly, and Eli Kelly.
Also for Leisa Bolles Jones and her family, should they ever wish
to use it. Leisa
and her husband were not brought up in the campmeeting tradition, but God does
work miracles every day, doesn't He?
The tent is nicknamed "The Oak" for the Ogletree, Almand and Kelly families. We
(the Kelly's) are descended from the Ogletrees and Almands who first tented on
this approximate location in 1828. We are very proud of our heritage, both
from a historical and spiritual point of view.
Leisa, Casey, Maleah, Kayla, and Granny (MaryLee) all live in Conyers. Madison
and Eli are, at this time, living in Colorado Springs. We also have "adopted
children" who stay with us every year....Anna Tidwell, daughter of Mary & Tom
Tidwell, of Signal Mountain, TN and also Helen and Mary Alice Nicholls, daughters
of Eric and Kathleen Nichols of Conyers.
The motto of out tent is "We are rooted in Christ." If you're going to
be an oak, you had better have a good root system just as a good Christian needs
a really excellent root system. Every year we do exercises within the tent
to try to improve our roots.
The other families of Salem are very important to all of us. To reach any
person in our tent during the year, call MaryLee at 770-760-0513.
May God be with you all between one campmeeting and the next. May he especially
be with you during the week of "Salem".
